June grew up in Southwest Michigan’s famed Fruit Belt and has spent over twenty-five years in numerous capacities within the food business, from baker to chef to café and bar manager. She has advocated on behalf of farmers and small producers throughout her career. June came to Greenmarket in 2004 and became the organization's Farm Inspections Manager in 2007. She has traveled extensively within the region, visiting producer farms and production facilities. These experiences have given her the background and insight to think strategically on behalf of growers and on re-building our local food system. Her recent work on facilitating the production of grains and processing in the region highlights Greenmarket's capacity to be a progressive force in driving farm viability in the Northeast. June spearheads Greenmarket’s Regional Grains Project, which works collaboratively with researchers, farmers, processors, bakers, distillers, brewers, chefs and consumers to foster a thriving regional grains economy.
